Student Georgia makes winning start to Hartpury Showjumping Spectacular

Equine studies student Georgia Cabb today scored a ‘home’ win on the opening day of the Hartpury Showjumping Spectacular.

Georgia, studying a BA (Hons) Equine Business Management degree at Hartpury, made a flying start to the popular event by winning the Senior 1.20m Open aboard the agile Uragan, from Nicholas Edwards (Royal Trooper II) and Jon Paull (Upsidaisy Z).

Also in the International Arena, Miles Pearson and Castiel jumped well to head a competitive field in the National 1.30m Open, with John Daker second on Credit Card and William Funnell third aboard Billy Kodak.

The National 1.40m Open was won by Mennell Watson riding Whisper In The Wind, ahead of runner-up William Funnell on Billy Ring and third-placed Bethanie Knight and Foss.

Sammie Coffin clinched victory aboard Baccara SF in the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter, ahead of Stuart Harvey riding Tiger Lily X and Kathryn Ellison on Ge Palve.

Helen Rees won the Breeders Elite Studbook 5-Year-Old Non-Qualifier on Bianca Du Rouet, while Rebecca Mason and Vancurtis were too good for their rivals in the Breeders Elite Studbook 6-Year-Old Non-Qualifier.

Indoors, in the Hartpury Arena, Georgie Pudge produced an impressive performance in the Dodson & Horrell 85cm National Amateur Championship Qualifier, occupying the top two places aboard Springville and Abba Dasher Doo respectively.

Rose Moss played a starring role aboard Hollywood Lena in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice and then gained a second win of the day in the Connolly’s Red Mills Senior Newcomers, this time riding Najette.

There was also further success for Georgie Pudge and the in-form Springville, this time in the Senior 90cm Open, while Nicholas Edwards was in winning form aboard Elastique in both the Senior 1.10m and 1.15m Opens.

Debbie Paget finished second and third in that event riding Kilmastulla Amazon and Tarquin M respectively, but she finished first and second on the same horses in the Senior 1.00m Open.

Holly Hall and WKD San Remo won the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery, while Louise Minderman topped the final standings aboard Prize Mix in the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Qualifier.
